The Mole’s Discovery
Baby mole is finally old enough to go to school. Mother mole had been preparing to send Baby Mole to his new school with new bags, bottles and shoes. However, the Baby mole was not exactly thrilled.
“Mum, can I just stay home?” he asked. Mother replied, “There are lots of things you can learn. School is going to be fun.” Baby mole shook his head but went to school as told.
On the first day of school, the moles were taught to burrow and build a nest in the ground. Baby Mole shoved his tiny claws into the soil and kept digging. He was panting and breathless while trying his best to make a small hole. Feeling exhausted, he sat there on the ground while looking at other moles digging furiously.
Finally, the lessons were over, and it was time to go home. When Baby mole saw his mum, he whined and said, “Mom, school is too boring. All we did was digging in the soil all day long. It was too tiring. I want to learn other things.” “Don’t worry, let’s try other lessons tomorrow.” Mother comforted him.
The next day, Baby mole attended the horse teacher’s class. The teacher horse taught the horses to gallop gracefully and sprint swiftly.
Baby mole raced as fast as he could to try and keep up with the rest of the horses, but he could not.
While running, the group of horses nearly trampled onto Baby mole as he was too small to be seen compared to the horses. Intuitively, Baby mole quickly dug a hold in the soil and hid inside, preventing him from stepping by the dashing horses.
Finally, the lessons were over, and it was time to go home. When Baby mole saw his mum, he whined again, “Mom, school is too boring. All we did was running all day long. It was too tiring. I want to learn other things.” “Don’t worry, there are more lessons tomorrow.” Mother reassured him.
The following day, Baby mole attended the monkey teacher’s class. He was taught how to climb trees. Baby mole stretched his short hands as much as possible, but he could not reach any branches. He tried to jump to grab the next branch, but he slipped and fell to the ground. The other monkeys laughed at Baby Mole and threw branches down at him. Upset, Baby mole immediately dug into the nearby soil to avoid being hit.
Slowly, Baby mole realised that burrowing was something he could do easily. He told his mother, “No matter how hard I tried, I could not climb. My first lesson suits me the best.”
This time, Baby mole earnestly learned to burrow. He understood the different types of soil for digging and how to build a solid nest. He spent lots of time sharpening his skills and became the top student in his class.
Everyone congratulated Baby mole for his excellent job. Now, Baby mole aspires to teach others how to burrow efficiently. Mother mole was so proud of his achievement and said, “Mum is so proud of you. Now you have discovered what you are good at and worked hard to improve your skills, you will be recognised for your effort and achievement.”
The End.
