Stretchy man plays hide and seek and got lost! Where could he be?
Ruben the Rubber Man made his home with his family at the rubber plantation where he works. Within the rubber plantations, where there were a lot of debris and rubbles, Ruben and his siblings like playing a game called “hide and seek.”
One day, Ruben was playing “hide and seek” but this time, he decided to hide near the edge of the bridge.
Unfortunately, a boy who was crossing the bridge noticed something out of place and walked closer to check. “What an intriguing stuffed doll!” the boy mumbled as he looked at it. The little boy grabbed hold of Ruben and immediately began pulling and stretching at it. “Oh no! I am getting loooonger…” Ruben cried.
Snap! The boy let go of the rubber all of a sudden. Ruben flew out from his grasp due to the abrupt release and break free but was headed straight into the river.
“Oh god, someone save me, I’m going to drown,” Ruben yelled as he struggled to stay afloat. Ruben landed in the river with a splash! He panicked and began waving frantically. After a while he stopped. He wasn’t going to drown in the river; in fact, he was merely floating on top of it! “Wow, I am the great rubber man, for I will not sink in water!” Ruben’s realisation made him excited.
All of a sudden, the area surrounding Ruben becomes completely dark. He looked up and realised he was inside the gaping mouth of a monstrously huge fish. “I’m going to get devoured!” Ruben made a frantic effort to get as far away from the fish’s mouth as he could as quickly as he could. However, it was too late. He found himself inside the guts of the fish.
Ruben was still drifting about inside the fish’s stomach when the fish swallowed him. He started to miss his family, but he was unsure if he would ever reunite with them again..
After some time had passed, a fisherman caught the fish. When they were going to prepare the fish for dinner, they discovered Ruben. “What an interesting stuffed doll .” The fisherman smiled broadly as he stretched Ruben. “Again….” Ruben frowned. The fisherman showed his dog the rubber man, tossed Ruben a distance from him.
Ruben landed on the ground , where he bounced around a little bit. The dog chased after him. They carried on until the farmer’s wife shouted. “It’s dinner time!” When the dog heard, it ran off back to their house.
“Phew!” Ruben heaved a sigh of relief. By then, Ruben have landed in the vicinity of the woodland that was close to the farm. He continued his journey in hopes of returning home. As it was pitch dark out in the forest, Ruben stumbled into a boulder and rolled down a steep slope. It was completely dark outside. After what felt like an eternity of rolling, he eventually came to a stop in an open place.
Ruben was exhausted, so he laid down in the clearing he was in and waited for the dawn to break.
“We’ve been looking for you for days, and we finally found you! You are too good at hiding but please don’t do that again!” Ruben recognized the voice immediately.
He opened his eyes and saw his family and siblings standing beside the wreckage of the rubber plantations. “Mum and Dad, I’m finally home! There will be no more hiding and seeking from me again!” Ruben exclaimed.

- Do you like playing hide and seek? Is there a time where you hide somewhere so secretive that it took some time for your friends or family members to find you?
- Do you know how and why rubber floats on water? It is got to do with this term called “Density”. If an object’s density is greater than water, it will sink. Conversely, if an object’s density is less than water, it will float. In the case of rubber, it floats because its density is far less than that of water.
- Buoyancy also plays a part in keeping rubber afloat.
- Do you know that rubber is an example of a natural polymer? The chains of molecules in rubber have a natural elasticity: they can stretch when pulled. When the pulling force is removed, the elastic polymers in rubber spring back to their original length. A polymer with elastic properties like this is sometimes called an elastomer.
