The tooth fairy has a letter to you.
Hi, I am the tooth fairy. You might have seen me in books, folk tales or even paintings. Do I look like what you imagined from my picture above? Different parts of the world have different ideas about my look.
In the United States, I look like a tiny human like you but with wings. However, in places like Spain or France, I look like a mouse!
I may look small and cute, but I am around since about 1,200 years ago. Please don’t ask me my age, I mean, does your grandpa remembers his? Probably not.
You might be curious to know where I come from. That is a secret. I travel a lot from America to Europe, to Africa and Asia. You can say, I come from everywhere.
I travel all around the world, just to find a tooth. Sometimes it’s on the roof, and other times, it’s underground!
As you will see, I work really hard. Let me tell you how hard my work can be.
When I fly across the ocean to Afghanistan, I turn into a mouse! When this happens, I will scurry around in the dark corners to get lucky. Ta dah! I found a shiny tooth.
Next, I hurry to Argentina. There, I felt thirsty and tried to dip my whiskers into a glass of water. Surprise! I found a sparkling tooth in the water.
After that, I speed across a moonlit sea. There I transformed into a squirrel and dashed across the roof. A tooth was glistening in the starlight!
I rushed to Japan next. Here, I changed to my human look with wings again! Phew! I searched the roof but found nothing. I scampered into the dark corners. No luck. I went into the house to check the water. Still nothing.
I wriggled and squirmed under the house. Finally! I found a tooth!
My last stop was in Romania. There I found a tooth on a warm roof. That was easy. The tooth twinkled like a star. I grabbed it and left a polished coin.
When your teeth fall out, can you make my life easier by leaving it in your room beside your bed? I will take it away and leave a small gift for you. Maybe a coin or something nice, oh well, depends on where you stay anyway.
And, I collect all kinds of teeth. However, the clean, sparkling ones are easier to spot. To help me find them faster, can you make sure you brush your teeth frequently and keep them clean, please? If you have a toothbrush, it will be great to clean your teeth with it. If not, you can use a special chewing stick plucked from a tree to clean your teeth. I know in some parts of Africa and the middle east they do that.
After I collect the tooth, I might bury them in the soccer field if I am in Turkey. Or maybe I may leave the teeth for mothers if I am in some parts of south and central America. They make lovely lucky charms with the teeth for the children.
Do I really exist? Or am I just a fairy tale that grown-ups tell you during bedtime? Well, what do you think?
