Fishing Wishes
Cute Short Stories
Would you help make someone’s wishes come true?
1 2 3 4…
Rosy, the Rabbit, could not sleep. If you can’t sleep, try counting sheep. That’s what Rosy’s parents told her.
She had been doing that for the past hour but was more awake than ever. Bored, she stood up and tip-toed to the open window.
“Are you awake, moon? Would you like to play with me”? She whispered.
Before she could say another word, something dropped from the sky swiftly! It landed right in front of her window.
It’s a ladder!
Rosy was surprised by this exciting scene. She touched the ladder and even pulled it a little to see if it was sturdy.
She waited.
“Hello? Is there anyone coming?” She poked her head out and mumbled.
There was no one around.
“Hmm, I wonder where this ladder leads.” She thought to herself. Out of curiosity, she climbed up to see what was happening.
Up and up she goes. She had no idea how high she had climbed until she reached almost the top of the ladder and heard, “hello little rabbit, are you not sleepy?”
Rosy looked around and realized it was a little girl talking to her. She took another look around to see where she was. She’s gotten so high she’s above the clouds! She made it to the moon!
“Join me.” The little girl continued as she held Rosy a fishing rod.
Rosy was confused. “What are you planning to do with this fishing rod?” Rosy asked.
“I am fishing for stars. Oh, by the way, you can call me Aries.” The little girl replied.
“Every star I catch is a wish granted for one child on earth.” Aries continued. “Would you join me so we can help make someone happy?” Aries asked.
“I’ll love too!” Rosy replied enthusiastically as she sat down next to the little girl with her fishing rod and waited patiently.
All of a sudden, the fishing rod started to move erratically. “Use all of your strength to pull it up.” Rosy tried with all her might going back and forth with the fishing rod. She was about to fall with the rod when Aries put down her fishing rod and grabbed Rosy’s back. Atlas! With both their efforts, they managed to pull up the heavy star!
The star got caught and landed on the moon with a smile.
“Wow, this is a big star. Good job, Rosy. You have helped one kid fulfil a big wish.” Aries said.
“I wonder what wish that was.” Rosy wondered.
“Let’s continue to fish as many as we can!” Aries said. The two of them started having a mini-match to catch as many stars as they could. “It’s so much fun to stay up late and play!” Rosy said.
After some time, they were completely surrounded by stars!
Rosy and Aries lay down on a sea of stars to take a break. “Make your wish, Rosy,” Aries said softly. “I wish I could come here every night,” Rosy mumbled. By then, Rosy’s eyelids began feeling heavy. She yawned and curled up under the stars, and fell asleep.
Rosy woke up the following day to find herself in her bedroom. She remembered what had happened the night before.
Was it all a dream? Just then, a small star fell from her pocket.
Rosy grinned.
